It has been amazing to see the amount of people who have embraced the GPT and even the biggest sceptics of AI for Analytics have been blown away by its power, when you’re dealing with AI ready data.

- Volume: Nearly 1,000 users have run almost 10,000 queries, showcasing the high engagement.
- Peak Interest: Marquee events like the 100m and 200m sprints are drawing the most queries, with other sports seeing spikes during their peak times (e.g., swimming in the opening weeks).
- Popular Query Types: There’s a significant interest in male vs. female performance comparisons, especially regarding the narrowing performance gap between genders.
Interesting Queries:
- Performance Trends: Users are examining trends like the reduction in winning times in the men’s 100m, with a noted average improvement of 0.1 seconds per decade.
- Doping Disqualifications: Some queries focus on countries with the highest doping disqualifications and the subsequent impact on their future performances.

The Olympics are in full swing and here at Verodat, we’re ramping up the games discussions with the launch of our new GPT – Olympic Data Analytics.
There is a lot of scepticism around AI for analytics and a lack of trust in outcomes but we want to change that. With the right data, these GPT tools are incredibly powerful.

What is it?
It’s your go-to AI chat for Olympics info! It’s like having a genius sports analyst at your fingertips, ready to dive deep into Olympic stats, records, and trends.
What Can It Do?
We’ve trained the GPT on some key Olympics stats (see below for a full list of what’s included). Not only will it be able to give specific answers, but it can do comparisons and give in depth analysis giving you a chance to uncover hidden facts, trends and stories from the history of the Games. What CAN’T it do?
AI is great BUT it depends on having the right data. For this GPT we’ve used the following information: anything outside of this can’t be accurately included in responses.
- Games details: Season (winter or summer) location of the games, the year.
- Event details: The name of the event, the sport category, the gender category (male, female, mixed) the full results per Games and unit of measure for the event (seconds, metres etc)
- Athlete details: Their name, gender, the country they represent, their results per Games and any doping disqualifications
So for example, the GPT will be able to compare winning times in athletics 100m for men vrs women from the 2020 Games right back to 1896, but as we didn’t include date of birth data, the GPT won’t be able to tell you the most common winning star sign!
A good rule of thumb – for this and most AI – the AI tool is only as good as the data it gets – if there are any additional data sets you think we should include – let us know.

How Is This Any Different From ChatGPT?
Accuracy
While ChatGPT offers responses across a broad range of topics, the Olympics Data Analyst GPT is finely tuned to provide more in-depth and accurate responses related to this specific set of Olympic Games data. It takes all the capabilities of ChatGPT but builds in lots of essential data elements that ensures the results are accurate.
Traceability
For this tool, lots of this data is publicly available, so ChatGPT will sometimes be able to give you a similar answer but you can’t see how ChatGPT arrived at its answer and if you can trust it. Ever before AI entered the workplace, the people behind Verodat were in the business of solving data problems. We’ve spent over 12 years working with business leaders to help get the most out of their data. For most of that time, we were refining a design system to help us build solutions. We soon realised many data management processes were flawed. As the big data movement grew, so did the scope of data projects. Companies without access to large data ops or analyst teams were unable to achieve what they wanted from their data. In order to fix this problem, we have spent years fine tuning a new approach, flipping how data quality is addressed. Allowing data to be efficiently managed by all stakeholders.
Enter AI
While AI had long been creeping into business tools, the arrival of Gen AI in 2022 took things to a whole new level. The initial hype of promised revolutionary applications for business was quickly dulled by a single realisation. AI technology might have taken a leap forward but data management process were firmly stuck in the past.
We quickly identified that this disconnect was a critical blocker to AI adoption. Without the right data, delivered the right way – trusted AI adoption was almost impossible.
For the last two years we have set out to remove this blocker, further adapting our data supply chain platform to meet the needs of AI.
